Taking The Leap
Leaving corporate life to start my own business wasn't a light choice made over coffee with friends. It was a full body, visceral choice. My brain was terrified - but my heart knew. I wasn't sure how it would work. I constantly questioned my worth (and maybe still have those moments) -- but I knew one thing: LEAP.
You know the feeling. You're here because you know the desperation of wanting to do your own thing. I'm sure you are also familiar with the Procrastination Fairy and her evil step sister Self Doubt.
I’ve been there.
I know that deep desire.
I know that doubt.
I know how hard the leap can be. But I also know the other side of it.
And friend - the freedom tastes delicious.
I won't sugar coat it...it's hard! You have to juggle a tonne of hats + learn all about finances, negotiation, contracts + marketing (and more) BUT news flash: you can do hard things.
The hard decisions make life easy; the easy decisions make life hard.
I wasted hundreds of hours struggling and trying to "figure it all out". Nobody wins when you struggle needlessly all along, but everyone wins when you seek support from those who have done it before.
So to save you some time, I wanted to share this with you:
Here are 3 things I wish I’d done sooner:
➡️ Hired a bookkeeper and made that a priority (it would have pulled me out of financial fear far earlier!)
➡️ Waited longer before investing heavily in a website - I needed time to get to know my key offerings, my style + the people I love working with. Start simple.
➡️ Owned my talent for genuine online marketing early on instead of trying to fit into other people's molds of what social media ‘should’ look like.
The path I'm on has been anything but straight. But then one day, the tides turned and I came home to THIS. The most insanely gorgeous bunch of flowers, a badass Damselfly candle and a card from my client saying things that made my heart burst.
In that moment, every teary "I-don't-think-I-can-do-this-anymore" fear-filled, soul-testing entrepreneur moment disappeared.
In its place rose something I'd caught only in glimpses - and it felt like it could last a lifetime: TRUST.
Calling all my sisters on an entrepre-mission. Send me your 'a-ha' moments, your soul bursting wins or your 'I'm enough epiphanies' so I can see you...witness you...and celebrate your gloriousness.
Start today knowing it's all good (even the hard bits). You are enough + you're good at what you do. Sending you the courage to leap and the faith that you'll fly. Here's hoping this ripples off your screen and nibbles at those cute, husslin' toes under your desk.

PS. Imposter syndrome is what keeps so many people from taking the leap. Today Seth Godin did a kickass Facebook Live and said this:
"Of course you're an imposter!....because you've never done this before. No one's ever done this before, that's why it's interesting. You are announcing a possible future that you can't guarantee it's gonna work. You are a generous imposter in service of change. That is what you are doing."
Read that again friend + let that wash over you.
You are important.
Keep going.
The world needs what you're doing.
ALGORITHM? (heard of it but not sure what it is?)
There are two things to know about Instagram.
There’s a powerful algorithm that controls it
You have the power to impact it, in your favour
The ALGORITHM is this thing that seems to pivot on a dime and all of a sudden you see your likes dwindle, your comments disappear + you wonder if people are even seeing your content.
