What If I Asked You These Two Questions?

Have you ever found someone who sets you on fire? Someone who motivates you to play a bigger and *gulp* scarier game? Someone who lights a fire under your inner entrepreneurial butt to get-the-darn-work-done?

Right now that person for me is Seth Godin, and here's a taste:

“It’s possible that you no longer need to get better at your craft. That your craft is just fine. It’s possible that you need to be braver instead.”

Shut the front door Seth - you had me at hello. Er, I mean braver.

That one word -braver.

It made me ask 2 questions:

  1. What is my comfort zone, and what does stepping out of it look like?

  2. Am I truly willing to be brave?

Full disclosure - I think I'm a fairly out-going human who's willing to put myself out there for both the benefit of my own growth and that of those around me. But brave? Brave is not always the adjective I'd use to describe myself.

If I'm being truly honest, here's what 'being brave' looks like for me:

⚡️ Recording weekly IGTV's
⚡️ Doing a Ted Talk
⚡️ Pitching to podcasts
⚡️ Starting a YouTube channel

There I said it. (insert sweaty palms here)
Am I doing any of those things? Not yet. Could I do them? Yeppers.

My fairy godmother Brene Brown says "Courage is a heart word. The root of the word courage is cor - the Latin word for heart. In one of its earliest forms, the word courage meant "To speak one's mind by telling all one's heart." Over time, this definition has changed, and today, we typically associate courage with heroic and brave deeds."

So let me ask you:

  1. How could you be braver in your business?

  2. How could you move away from feeling like you had to be better at your craft, and rather, what could you do to push yourself out of your comfort zone?

Write it down on paper. Not on your phone, on paper - make it real. Share it with someone who supports your goals. Now post it over on Insta and inspire the tribe with your bravery.

One of the best ways to achieve what you're after is to put it out there. When the bar is raised, we tend to rise to the challenge. Let's collectively raise the bar. I challenge you to make a bravery list, and complete one brave thing on your list before 2020. (mic drop)

Or not.

No pressure.
But imagine what could happen if you tried just one?
